Internet Connection Wizard Instructions for Windows 98

 

To start you must first start the Internet Connection Wizard for Windows 98, to do this you must open the "Run" box. To open this box go to the "Start" button, and click "Run…" In the text field "Open:" type this line exactly as shown:

"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Connection Wizard\ICWCONN1.EXE"

or you may go to the Start button...Programs...Accessories...Internet Tools...Internet Connection Wizard

If you still cannot find the Wizard you may type "INETWIZ.EXE" in the Run box.

 

The illustration below shows the "Run" box where you type the line above.

When the Internet Connection Wizard opens you will see a box with the title "Internet Connection Wizard. (see illustration below.) In this box you will have three options, click the circle next to the second one "I have an existing Internet account…" and then click the "Next >" button.

Now you will see another box (see illustration below) with two options, select the circle next to the option that says: "Select this option if you are accessing the Internet using an Internet service provider…" and click the "Next >" button.

Now you will see a box (see illustration below) that has two more options, select the circle next to the option that says: "Connect using my phone line", and click the "Next >" button.

 

Next, you will see a box (see illustration below) where you can enter in a Telephone number.

Below is a list of numbers for our locations. Enter the one closest to you. Uncheck the "Dial using the area code and country code" option for local calls.

When finished, click the "Next >" button.

Now you will see a box (see illustration below) that has a place for "User name" and "Password." Enter the User name and Password from your sign-up sheet (which you got at the location you signed up at) in all lowercase. Then click the "Next >" button.

In the next window you will be given the option to change your Advanced Settings, click the circle next to the "No" option and click the "Next >" button.

Now you will see a window (see illustration below) that will allow you to name the dial-up connection. We suggest using TRX Inc. Click the "Next >" button when done.

You are now finished setting up the Internet Connection Wizard for Windows 98. Click the "Finish" button and refer the DNS Instructions.
